The 2012 Pride of PNG Awards Judges (from L-R, seated)
Eva Arni, Michaela Dion and Lady Winifred Kamit.
(Standing, L-R): Prue Go, Lanna Kami, Charlie Gorogo,
Prof. Betty Lovai and Nancy Wagner.

“We are happy with the turnout of the entries we received this year as this is our highest so far. This is Pride of PNG’s fifth year and it’s a solid indication that many are now recognising the extraordinary efforts of some low-profile Papua New Guinean women who have done extraordinary things to their community,” Go said.

The judges for this year’s search were also named and these are as follows: Eva Ani of Air Niugini; Sacred heart school teacher and 2011 queens’ awardee for community service Michaela Dion; Lady Winifred Kamit of Gaden’s lawyers; Lanna Kamit of JAA PNG, inc.); Professor Betty Lovai of UPNG and Charlie Gorogo of PNGFM.

“We are thankful for the nod of this year’s judges. Every year, we carefully choose judges whom we think can make a fair judgment in identifying the rightful winners per category. They are achievers and respected in their respective field. It’s no joke to allocate a portion of your time to judge who would make it to this year’s recognition,” Ms Go said.

The presentation of this year’s winners is slated for November 15 at Parliament’s function room. Grand Chief Sir Michael Ogio, being its patron, will be attending the awards night together with Lady Esmie.

The Pride of PNG Awards for Women was conceptualised by CPL Group to honour everyday Papua New Guinean women who do extraordinary things – the unsung heroes of our communities whose contribution to PNG community is not widely known to the general public.

There are six medals to be awarded for the six categories and these are as follows: Bravery and Courage, Care and Compassion, Young PNG, Community Spirit, Education-Role Model and Environment. The social responsibility project of CPL Group is also supported by Post -Courier, PNG FM and Air Niugini.
